Sometimes science takes a long time to reach application.  In 1984 Kohler and Milstein were awarded the Nobel prize for Physiology or Medicine for the discovery of monoclonal antibodies, but it’s only now that the first monoclonal antibody therapies have been developed for Dementia.  Although the scientific step is significant, the demonstrated therapeutic impact has been limited - a 27% reduction in some cognitive symptoms, and only in mild early-stage cases.  Nevertheless, we can hold out hope that this may be a New Dawn for Dementia sufferers.
