Risk Factors For Dementia: The Past Decade

NeuroForm

NeuroView:

In this NeuroView, we reflect on the observation that perhaps as an inevitable side consequence of the continuing dearth of truly effective therapies for Alzheimer’s and the other forms of dementia, the past decade has seen increasing focus on avoiding the disease in the first place.  Extensive research by Alzheimer’s Research and others over this period has focused on identifying the risk factors correlated with the incidence of dementia.  This research has identified a range of 14 known risk factors, and apart from genetics and aging many of these can be attenuated by changes in behaviour, diet, activities or other lifestyle factors.  But for all that, it seems likely that the quest for an organic cure or treatment for the disease when it occurs will remain a core requirement for conquering the ‘Undiscovered Country’ of dementia.

We continue to strive to translate the complexities of Dementia research into practical actionable items for suffers and carers. In the Dimensions Of Dementia initiative we are working to define key elements of the ‘Undiscovered Country’, including a Dementia Map, a Dementia Dictionary, and a focus on Defeating Dementia.

If you would like to receive information on our ongoing analysis on any of these 3 key areas please contact me directly, or by text on: 07549669496, or message me through this website (www.neuroform-education.co.uk)
